Installing

Which Macs are supported?

Macs with Apple silicon (M1 or later). Windows and Linux are planned.

Is Lightokay free?

Yes, Lightokay is currently free to download and use.

Photos and previews

Why won't some RAW files open?

RAW formats differ between camera models and firmware. Make sure the file is complete and you're on the latest version. If it still fails, email support@okayok.ai with the camera model and file extension.

Thumbnails are slow or don't appear

• Keep libraries on a local disk — network drives and sleeping external disks are much slower.
• The first import of a large RAW folder builds thumbnails in the background; give it a moment to finish.
• Close other disk-heavy tasks and try again.

Does Lightokay upload my photos?

No. Browsing, filtering, previews and edits happen locally. See Local-first.

Does Lightokay change my original files?

Browsing, tagging and filtering don't modify your photos. Edits are applied to previews and to the files you export. Copy and move operations change files on disk only when you run them.
