RAW preview

Open camera RAW files quickly, with a histogram and full shooting information.

Why a dedicated preview

The system viewer and general image viewers often handle RAW slowly or not at all. Lightokay puts managing and quick viewing in one workflow, so you can make decisions while culling.

What you see

  • A fast, full-size preview of the RAW file.
  • A histogram (RGB, luminance and LAB) with highlight and shadow clipping.
  • Shooting info: ISO, shutter speed, aperture, focal length, camera and lens.
  • File info: dimensions, size, dates, extension and path.

A culling routine

  1. Open the shoot folder.
  2. Do a first pass in the grid to reject the obvious misses.
  3. Open the candidates in preview to check exposure, focus and color.
  4. Use the color filter to group frames from the same scene.
  5. Rate the keepers and move on to editing.
