Tags, ratings and search

Organize photos with tags and star ratings, and combine filters to find exactly what you need.

When a library grows into the thousands, scrolling isn't enough. Lightokay lets you describe photos with tags and ratings and combine filters to find them again.

Tags

Tags describe what a photo is, independent of which folder it's in:

  • Style: moody, film look, high contrast
  • Subject: portrait, product, architecture, event
  • Work: client name, project code, use (cover, poster, short video)
  • Status: to review, final, rejected

Tips: start with a few stable tag groups, keep meanings from overlapping, and tag a new batch right after you add it.

Ratings

Give photos star ratings while culling, then filter to show only your best frames.

Filters you can combine

  • Tags and ratings
  • Dominant color and color index
  • File format
  • Date and date range
  • File size and dimensions
  • Orientation (landscape, portrait, square)
  • Search by file name

A typical workflow

  1. Narrow down to the current project with a folder or tag.
  2. Use the color filter to match a look.
  3. Search for a specific file name.
  4. Open the preview to check details, then export or drag the files where you need them.
